About the Artist

      Gil Rumsey first showed his work professionally in 1969 while attending Kansas State University. After graduation, he and his wife Linda moved to the Kansas City area where they opened their first gallery in Overland Park, Kansas.

      On March 1st, 2006, their expanded gallery burned to the ground. Gil lost his life's work: more than 500 original paintings, and 20,000 prints and books.

      In the months since the fire, Gil has produced more than 150 new paintings.  In this time span, Gil has also has 3 one-man shows, including one at his alma mater Kansas State, where his art now hangs in the university's permanent collection.

      Gil has also participated in the Visiting Artists programs of the Shawnee Mission and De Soto, Kansas, school districts.

      Gil Rumsey's works grace the walls of many banks, medical facilities, and other places of business throughout the USA. Countries that hang Gil's art include Japan, Germany, Australia, Mexico, and Canada.

      Throughout a long and illustrious career that has included equal shares of triumph and tragedy, Gil's by-word for life remains: NEVER QUIT!
